Blue Hanfusa is an ongoing project of mine. The word ‘Ħanfusa’ is Maltese and means ‘beetle’. The given name means ‘Blue Beetle’ and it refers to the blue Volkswagen beetle, which my grandfather used to drive. As a child, I often rode in the beetle with him and went on adventures I will never forget. My ‘nannu’ supported my creativity with great love and encouragement. He was the father figure I was missing my whole life. When I think of him, my heart is filled with joy and my mind with positive thoughts. Blue Hanfusa is a name that reminds me of ‘Nannu’ and a bunch of happy things. Therefore, I am extending and sharing my love through the ceramics I create under this name.
