Commissioned by Festivals Malta
With the pandemic situation going on, the Carnival celebrations were cancelled. For this reason, Festivals Malta organised a series of events that conform with the health and safety regulations to bring the Carnival to the people this time round! The street installations were organised to be made visible by people driving by. They were placed in junctions and ‘busy areas’ all around Malta. There was a total of 6 installations designed by 3 artists (2 designs each) and the build up of the traditional paper-machet was done by the companies who usually create the carnival floats year after year. I had submitted two designs, which were chosen for the project.
